Metoprolol and EP Impurities M and N analyzed using HILIC chromatography and Charged Aerosol Detection
Description
Metoprolol succinate, a selective beta1-adrenoreceptor antagonist, reduces chest pain and lowers high blood pressure. Impurity profiling of a drug substance is important since even at small amounts they may influence product efficacy and safety. Metoprolol analysis by LC/UV detection has been described but some impurities do not possess a chromophore. The European Pharmacopeia specifies thin layer chromatography for impurities M and N analysis. This does not produce reliable quantitative data. The USP monograph modernization program indicates that a chromatographic method is more desirable.Market: | Pharma |
