AN003262: Analysis of common lithium salts, trace additives, and contaminants in lithium-ion battery electrolytes by ion chromatography-mass spectrometry

Instrument Type: ICMS

An ion chromatography-mass spectrometry (IC-MS) method to meet the analytical need of understanding the sample composition and degradation byproduct in simulated battery electrolytes. Integrating an organic solvent gradient, this method achieves excellent separation of many analytes allowing lithium-ion battery (LIB) manufacturers and researchers to gain knoledge to improve quality assurance, quality control and failure analysis processes to ensure the battery's performance.

AB001809: Improved Determinations of Residual Anions and Organic Acids to Improve Printed Circuit Board Cleanliness - A

Instrument Type: IC

Organic acid and inorganic residues from solder flux and other manufacturing processes can cause soft and hard failures in the printed circuit board (PCB), as previously discussed in Thermo Scientific Application Note 1163. This Application Brief demonstrates methods to improve analyte resolution. This record shows the effect of reducing column temperature on analyte resolution.

AB001809: Improved Determinations of Residual Anions and Organic Acids to Improve Printed Circuit Board Cleanliness -B

This record shows the effect of adding methanol to the eluent to improve analyte resolution.

AU000610: Determination of Trace Organic Acids and Inorganic Anions in Boric Acid-Treated Power Plant Waters using an Automated Reagent-Free Ion Chromatography System

Instrument Type: IC

Ion chromatography (IC) is an indispensable technique for the determination of trace concentrations of ionic impurities found in power plant waters. Dionex AN185 describes an automated RFIC method for the determination of trace anions in borated waters. This work updates AN185 with a Dionex IonPac AS28-Fast-4μm column for improved peak efficiencies and resolution, the IC instrument, and consumables. The calibration ranges, detection limits, precision, and accuracy of this method for determining trace anionic impurities in borated samples are described.

AN73852: Determination of Trace Anions in High Purity Waters using a Large-Volume Direct Injection

Instrument Type: IC

This work describes the use of Dionex IonPac AS28-Fast-4μm column that was designed specifically for the trace analysis of inorganic anions and monovalent organic acids. Improved peak efficiencies in combination with the smaller column inner diameter result in lower detection limits compared to the Dionex IonPac AS15-5μm column. The analytes are detected by suppressed conductivity with a Dionex ADRS™ 600 suppressor. This application note expands on work presented in Application Update 142, “Improved determination of trace anions in high purity waters by high-volume direct injection
