Determination of electrolytes in sports beverages by HPLC-CAD

Instrument Type: HPLC-CAD

The Thermo Scientific Dionex UltiMate 3000 RS system is applied for the analysis of electrolytes in sports beverages. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim Trinity P2 column, which is designed to resolve a broad range of anions and cations, mono- or multi-valent, in a single analysis using a simple gradient method. The Thermo Scientific OnGuard II P cartridge was used to remove artificial colors from the samples.

AB107: Determination of Hexavalent Chromium in Dyes

Instrument Type: IC

Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is the most toxic form of the metal chromium. Leather products colored with dyes containing trivalent chromium, and sweat can transfer the chromium from the leather to the skin. It is possible that some of the Cr(III) oxidizes to Cr(VI). Leather gloves were found to contain Cr(VI). Here, we analyze two dyes for Cr(VI) using a sensitive ion chromatography (IC) method with postcolumn reaction to produce a colored complex detected by visible absorbance. Also refer to AU 179 for an updated method for Cr(VI) analysis.

Fast analysis of organic acids in orange juice on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim Organic Acid (OA) column

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific HPLC system is applied for the analysis of organic acids in orange juice. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim Organic Acid (OA) column, with UV detection at 210 nm. The samples were prepared using Thermo Scientific Dionex OnGuard II P SPE cartridges.

AN1113 Determination of Chloride and Sulfate using Hydroxide Eluent

Instrument Type: IC

In this study, the determination of chloride and sulfate in soil and water samples is demonstrated using two systems: an integrated Dionex ICS-2100 system that operates as a Reagent-Free IC (RFIC) system and a Dionex ICS-5000+ HPIC system that is capable of supporting high-pressure IC and is also a RFIC system. The separation is achieved using a Dionex IonPac AS22 Analytical column or, when using high-pressure IC, a Dionex IonPac AS18-4µm Analytical column. For both methods, the separated analytes are detected using suppressed conductivity detection. An ICS-6000 can be used for this application
