Comparison of five reversed-phase columns for the separation of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile amines

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the analysis of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile amines. The separation is performed on five reversed-phase columns; Thermo Scientific Acclaim C30, Acclaim 120 C8, Acclaim 120 C18, Acclaim PolarAdvanage and Acclaim PolarAdvantage II. The results were compared.

Fast analysis of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile ethanolamines using normal-phase chromatography

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the analysis of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile ethanolamines. The separation is performed in normal-phase mode on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 HPLC column, with UV detection at 280 nm.

Fast analysis of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile alkylamines using normal-phase chromatography

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the analysis of 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) derivatives of volatile alkylamines. The separation is performed in normal-phase mode on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 HPLC column, with UV detection at 280 nm.

Enhanced analysis of volatile amines by OSHA Method 60 using normal-phase chromatography with the Thermo Scientific Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 HPLC column

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 system is applied for the analysis of volatile amines. In this work, 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate (NITC) reacts with amines in an air sampling tube, to produce a UV-absorbing thiourea derivative. The Thermo Scientific Acclaim Mixed-Mode HILIC-1 column easily separates the derivatives using normal phase chromatography as per OSHA Method 60.

OSHA Method 60 for volatile amines using reversed-phase chromatography with the Thermo Scientific Acclaim C30 HPLC column

In this work, the Thermo Scientific Acclaim C30 separates the three amines in OSHA Method 60 with a simple isocratic reversed-phase elution. OSHA Method 60 describes the use of normal-phase chromatography, but as shown here reversed-phase chromatography can provide equivalent or better results.
