AN1148: Assay of Nitrite and Determination of Nitrate Impurity in Sodium Nitrite Using a Reagent-Free Ion Chromatography System

Instrument Type: IC

This application note reports our evaluation of the IC method for nitrite assay and nitrate determination in the proposed revision of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) monograph for sodium nitrite using an electrolytically generated potassium carbonate/bicarbonate eluent to execute the method rather than the manually prepared sodium carbonate/sodium bicarbonate eluent described in the PF proposal.

Determination of Halogens and Sulfur in a Polyethylene Standard Reference Material by Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

Polyethylene (PE) is widely used for containers, packaging material, etc. Because halogen compounds are often used as additives, it is important to know the halogen content when disposing or recycling PE products. By using a combustion ion chromatography (CIC) system consisting of the automatic quick furnace AQF-2100H and an ICS-1600 ion chromatograph, the concentrations of halogens and sulfur can be determined accurately and quickly.

Determination of Chlorine and Sulfur in Wood Chips Using Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

Wood chips are used for producing paper and are also contained in waste deposits. It is important to know the halogen contents of wood chips for impurity management in paper production and for environmental assessment in waste materials. By using a combustion ion chromatography (CIC) system consisting of the automatic quick furnace AQF-2100H and an ICS-1600 ion chromatograph, the concentrations of halogens and sulfur can be determined accurately and quickly.

Determination of Halogens and Sulfur in Refuse Derived Fuel by Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is a fuel produced by shredding and dehydrating solid waste deriving largely from municipal waste. Because RDF is used as fuel for power plants and boilers, it is important to know the halogen and sulfur content as an indication of the potential for formation of corrosives or environmental contaminants. By using a combustion ion chromatography (CIC) system consisting of the automatic quick furnace AQF-2100H and an ICS-1600 ion chromatograph, the concentrations of halogens and sulfur can be determined accurately and quickly.

AN284: Determination of Ethyl Sulfate Impurity in Indinavir Sulfate Drug Using Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

Indinavir sulfate is a specific and potent inhibitor of HIV-1 protease that may contain ethyl sulfate as a process contaminant. The work here shows an IC method to measure ethyl sulfate in indinavir sulfate. This method uses a Thermo Scientific Dionex IonPac AS12A column with a carbonate/bicarbonate eluent to separate ethyl sulfate from other anions, including sulfate. The eluent was produced using an eluent generator to improve ease of use and retention time reproducibility.
