Related substances analysis of cefadroxyl monohydrate using a C18 HPLC column as per EP 8.0 monograph method

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific Dionex UltiMate 3000 LC system is applied for the related substances analysis of cefadroxyl monohydrate. The analysis was performed on a Thermo Scientific Syncronis C18 HPLC column using the method described in the EP 8.0. The results obtained for resolution and signal-to-ratio met the criteria stated in the EP. The results obtained for resolution between the peaks due to EP Impurity A and EP Impurity B was 15.5 (EP criteria of minimum 5.0) and signal-to-ratio of EP Impurity B (0.4 µg/mL) was 56 (EP criteria of minimum 10). A sample chromatography is attached.

Quantification of EPA 1694 Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products in Water at the ng/L Level Utilizing Online Sample Preparation with LC-MS/MS

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

There is growing environmental concern regarding the health impact of trace levels of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in water resources. In response, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published Method 1694, which determines dozens of PPCPs in water, soil, sediment, and biosolids by HPLC-MS/MS. We demonstrate a progressive approach to analyzing PPCPs in environmental sources of water at the ng/L level with online sample preparation using small volumes of water, thus saving time and reducing the cost of analysis.

AN199: Determination of N-Methylpyrrolidine in Cefepime Using a Reagent-Free Ion Chromatography System

Instrument Type: IC

This application note describes a cation-exchange chromatography method that significantly reduces the time between injections relative to the current USP method (by approximately 3 h) due to the very low hydrophobic character of the IonPac® CS17 column, enabling a faster elution of strongly retained compounds (e.g., cefepime). The linearity, detection limits, precision, and recovery of NMP in cefepime hydrochloride are determined. The limit of quantitation for this method is approximately 0.001% NMP, well within the limit of 0.3% set in the USP method.

Fast analysis of cephalosporins using a Thermo Scientific Syncronis aQ HPLC column

Instrument Type: HPLC

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the determination of cephalosporins. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Syncronis C18 HPLC column, with UV detection at 254 nm.
