AN72349: Determination of Chlorine, Bromine, and Sulfur in Polyethylene Materials using Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

Plastic samples can be very difficult to analyze as sample preparation is required to extract analytes or remove interfering matrices, and these sample preparation techniques can be labor intensive. In this application note, we demonstrate that a CIC system can be used for automated qualitative and quantitative analysis of halogens and sulfur in plastic samples. Four plastic samples were analyzed for their chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), and sulfur (S) content. Method accuracy was evaluated using a polymer certified reference material (ERM EC680k) for Cl,Br, and S.

Determination of Chloride and Sulfate in Crude Oil by Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

In this application, crude oil was combusted in the Mitsubishi AQF-2100H system and then analyzed using a Dionex Integrion Ion Chromatography system to determine chloride and sulfate with a Dionex IonPac AS28-4µm anion exchange column. In the chromatogram shown, the chloride concentration was ~17 ppm and sulfate was ~3000 ppm.

Determination of Halogens and Sulfate in Liquid Petroleum Gas Using Combustion Ion Chromatography

Instrument Type: IC

In this application, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) samples were combusted in the Mitsubishi AQF-2100H system and then fluoride, chloride, and sulfate were determined using the Dionex ICS-2100 Ion Chromatography system with a Dionex IonPac AS15 anion-exchange column set.

AU205: Assay for Citrate and Phosphate in Pharmaceutical Formulations Using a High-Pressure Compact Ion Chromatography System

Instrument Type: IC

Using ion chromatography methods to determine citrate and phosphate in pharmaceutical formulations has been previously demonstrated, validated, and adopted by The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) in General Chapter< 345>. The monograph specified an L61 column. Here we demonstrate that a higher porosity, higher capacity, and smaller particle size L81 column with similar selectivity to L61 has much higher efficiencies, capacities, and sensitivities, and extended linear range with reduced run times.

AN1155: Determination of Chloride in Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals

Instrument Type: IC

This application note shows an ion chromatography (IC) determination of chloride in 19 SPIFAN (AOAC Stakeholder Panel on Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals) matrices. The results show that the method fulfills the SPIFAN standard method performance requirements (SMPRs). Repeatability, recovery, linearity, limit of detection, and limit of quantification were determined according to the chloride AOAC SMPR4 and AOAC Single Lab Validation guidelines. An ICS-6000 can be used for this application.
