AU72331: In-line Sample Preparation for the Determination of Anions in Sodium Hydroxide

Instrument Type: IC

Determination of anions in high pH samples is important for a variety of industries. But anions in a high pH sample cannot be determined without proper sample pretreatment due to the high concentration of hydroxide, which can act as an eluent, in the sample. This record shows an easier method to determine mg/L concentration of anions in sodium hydroxide using automated inline sample preparation with Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ Guardcap™ H vial caps. The caps serve as a cation exchange cartridge to neutralize samples before loading to the Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ IonPac AS23-4μm column.

AN72209: Determination of Trace Concentrations of Oxyhalides and Bromide in Municipal and Bottled Waters

Instrument Type: IC

To demonstrate that oxyhalides and bromide can be successfully determined at concentrations required for regulatory standards and guidelines using a Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ ion chromatography system equipped with a Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ IonPac™ AS23-4μm column,Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ CRD 300 Carbonate Removal Device, and a Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ AERS™ 500 Carbonate Anion Electrolytically Regenerated Suppressor.

Update of AN151: Determination of Perchlorate in a Drinking Water Sample Using a Compact Ion Chromatography System Coupled to a Mass Spectrometer

Instrument Type: ICMS

Perchlorate, an industrial contaminant from rockets, munitions, and fireworks, causes thyroid dysfunction in humans, especially pregnant women and children. In 2002, the EPA recommended a Provisional Reference Dose for perchlorate of 1 µg/L in drinking water. In 2015, California established a MCL of 6 µg/L with a Public Health Goal of 1 µg/L. IC-MS can provide lower detection limits (~ 30 ng/L) than conductivity in high-ionic-strength matrices using the MS selectivity at 99/101 m/z. Here we update AN151 with the Integrion IC system combined with the MSQ Plus mass spectrometer.

AU203: Determination of Trace Concentrations of Oxyhalides and Bromide in Municipal and Bottled Waters Using a Compact Ion Chromatography System

Instrument Type: IC

To demonstrate that oxyhalides and bromide can be run successfully using a Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ Integrion™ HPIC™ system combined with a Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ IonPac™ AS19-4μm column, featuring smaller resin particles, to achieve faster analysis without compromising data quality compared to using the Dionex IonPac AS19 column as in Application Note 167.
