AN350: Extraction of Zearalenone from Wheat and Corn by Accelerated Solvent Extraction (ASE)

Instrument Type: Automated Sample Prep

Zearalenone (ZON) is a mycotoxin produced by the Fusarium fungus. ZON can be found in a wide variety of plants and soils, and can have negative health effects on animal husbandry and humans. Accelerated Solvent Extraction (ASE) is a proven extraction technology that not only helps to eliminate these bottlenecks by decreasing the extraction time, but requires far less technician attendance because it is an automated system.

Determination of Fusarium Mycotoxins in Wheat, Maize and Animal Feed Using an Online TurboFlow and Orbitrap LC/MS Method

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

We describe a method using the Thermo Scientific Transcend TLX system with TurboFlow technology, which combines chromatography with high-resolution mass spectrometry, was developed and validated in house for the determination of deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin, fumonisins B1 and B2 in maize (corn), wheat and animal feed. Linearity range, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), recovery, repeatability, intermediate precision and accuracy were established by analysis using certified reference materials and the performance of successful proficiency testing.

Targeted Screening of Fungal and Plant Metabolites in Wheat, Corn, and Animal Feed Using Automated Online Sample Preparation Coupled to Orbitrap LC-MS

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

We describe a method that can be applied, for targeted screening of 21 fungal and plant metabolites with automated online sample cleanup utilizing a Thermo Scientific Transcend system coupled to a Thermo Scientific Exactive high-resolution mass spectrometer. This method has been validated according to current EU Commission legislation (2006, 2007).

Determination of Multiple Mycotoxins in Grain Using a QuEChERS Sample Preparation Approach and LC-MS/MS Detection

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites that are naturally produced by several species of fungi on agricultural products, particularly grain-based products. We demonstrate a fast, easy, and cost-effective approach for the determination of 16 mycotoxin residues in grain-based food using QuEChERS sample preparation with a Thermo Scientific Accucore aQ HPLC column and a Thermo Scientific TSQ Vantage triple quadrupole mass spectrometer for HPLC separation.

Fast and easy determination of multiple mycotoxins in grain using QuEChERS and a Thermo Scientific Accucore aQ HPLC column

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

The Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the determination of multiple mycotoxins in grain-based food. The samples are prepared using Thermo Scientific HyperSep Dispersive SPE (QuEChERS), and the separation performed using a Thermo Scientific Accucore aQ HPLC column, with MS/MS detection.
