AN362: Extraction of Herbal Marker Compounds Using Accelerated Solvent Extraction Compared to Traditional Pharmacopoeia Protocols
Instrument Type: Automated Sample PrepThe Accelerated Solvent Extraction system (ASE) uses elevated temperature and pressure to increase the efficiency of the extraction process. ASE automates and improves solvent extraction by significantly decreasing solvent consumption and extraction time. This application note describes the use of the ASE system for solvent extraction of five marker compounds from herbal preparations followed by analysis by HPLC. The results are compared to traditional pharmacopoeia extraction methods.
Simple extraction of vanillin from a cola soft drink using SPE with analysis by GC-MS
Instrument Type: GCMSThe Thermo Scientific TRACE GC Ultra is applied for the analysis of vanillin from a cola soft drink. The sample was prepared using Thermo Scientific SOLA HRP solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridges, and the separation was performed on a Thermo Scientific TraceGOLD TG-WaxMS A GC column, with flame ionization detection.
Simple isocratic analysis of sugars in cola drink
Instrument Type: HPLCThe Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 HPLC system is applied for the analysis of sugars in cola drink. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Accucore 150-Amide-HILIC HPLC column, with RI detection.
Improved analysis of Cola soft drink additives using a Hypersil GOLD HPLC column
Instrument Type: HPLCThe Thermo Scientific HPLC system is applied for the analysis of Cola soft drink additives. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD HPLC column in less than 8 minutes, with UV detection at 254 nm. Cola soft drink is a complex matrix and as limited sample preparation has been performed in this analysis some matrix peaks are being detected.
