Simultaneous UHPLC/MS Analyses of Explosive Compounds

Instrument Type: LCMS

We describe an ultra high performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (UHPLC/MS) method to efficiently separate, detect and quantitate all four classes of explosive compounds in soil samples, including eight nitroaromatics, two nitroamines, five nitrate esters and two peroxides. The explosives were separated on a Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD PFP, 1.9 µm, 2.1 x 100 mm column and detected by selected ion monitoring (SIM) on an Thermo Scientific MSQ Plus Mass Detector – a fast scanning, single-quadrupole mass spectrometer.

AN533: Analysis of Perchlorate in Infant Formula by Ion Chromatography-Electrospray-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (IC-ESI-MS/MS)

Instrument Type: ICMS

A simple and ultra-sensitive IC-MS/MS technique for the quantitation of perchlorate in powdered infant formula, liquid infant formula, and milk is described here. Unlike conventional detection methods that require labor intensive solid phase extraction (SPE) sample enrichment, only a simple sample preparation is necessary.

SOLAμ for pre-analysis sample concentration to improve sensitivity

Instrument Type: LCMS

This work demonstrates the use of Thermo Scientific SOLAμ SPE product to enhance sample pre-concentration prior to analysis. Additional benefits include reduced workflow and improved stability for analytes susceptible to loss or degradation during evaporation and reconstitution. The use of a Thermo Scientific Accucore HPLC column provided fast and efficient separation without the need for an ultra high pressure system. MS/MS detection was performed on a Thermo Scientific TSQ Vantage mass spectrometer. For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
