AN70: Choline and Acetylcholine

Instrument Type: IC

Choline and acetylcholine are quaternary ammonium cations which are noted for their activities as neurotransmitters. This is an older application note that shows these compounds can be determined by IC. Today we would probably use an IonPac CS19 column as shown in Application Update 189.

AU164: Determination of Glucosamine in Chondroitin Sulfate-Containing Dietary Supplements Using HPAE-PAD

Instrument Type: IC

Glucosamine (GlcN), a major structural component of glycosaminoglycan compounds, and chondroitin sulfate (CS), a glycosaminoglycan, are involved in normal joint function and are sold as dietary supplements for joint health. Accurate determinations of GlcN in dietary supplements by HPAE-PAD were reported in AN197. In AN197 the dietary supplements analyzed did not contain CS, a polyanionic polysaccharide that has the potential to overload the column and compromise GlcN determinations. This application update extends the determination of GlcN to dietary supplements containing CS.

AN117: Quantification of Carbohydrates and Glycols in Pharmaceuticals - Small Sugars

Instrument Type: IC

This application note describes the use of three different anion-exchange columns with amperometric detection to analyze common simple sugars, sugar alcohols, and glycols in pharmaceutical formulations. This record describes a method using the CarboPac PA10 column to determine some of the target carbohydrates. The reader is advised to review TN21 for updated waveform information.
