Comparison of maltodextrins by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) using HPLC-CAD

Instrument Type: HPLC-CAD

The Thermo Scientific LC system is applied for size exclusion chromatography analysis of maltodextrins. The separation is performed on a Thermo Scientific Acclaim SEC-1000 HPLC column, with charged aerosol detection.

AN253: HPAE-PAD Determination of Infant Formula Sialic Acid

Instrument Type: IC

Sialic acids in infant formulas are accurately determined by HPAE-PAD using the Dionex CarboPac PA20 column following acid hydrolysis and maltodextrin removal using one of two sample-preparation methods. HPAE-PAD provides reliable determination of sialic acids in acid hydrolyzed infant formula samples without sample derivatization. This method may be used to quantify sialic acids in formulas that have been enriched with sialic acids.

AU150: Determination of Plant-Derived Neutral Oligo- and Polysaccharides

Instrument Type: IC

Since the publication of Application Note 67, Dionex introduced the Dionex CarboPac™ PA200, a column designed for even higher-resolution separations than the Dionex CarboPac PA1 or PA100 columns. The improved resolution is due in part to the PA200’s significantly smaller substrate (5.5 μm) and latex (43 nm) beads. These and other changes produce a column that has greater resolution and requires a lower sodium acetate concentration to elute a given oligosaccharide than the PA100. The AU highlights the benefits of the PA200 for these applications.

AN67: Determination of Plant-Derived Neutral Oligo- and Polysaccharides

Instrument Type: IC

This application note describes how to develop an HPAE-PAD method for separating plant-derived neutral oligo- and polysaccharides. Amylopectin and fructan separations demonstrate column, eluent, and gradient choices for developing rugged HPAE-PAD methods for neutral oligo- and polysaccharides.
