Detection of Organochlorine Pesticides by GC-ECD Following U.S. EPA Method 8081

Instrument Type: GC

The application describes a convenient method for analyzing and quantifying organochlorinated pesticides in extracts from solid and liquid matrices using a gas chromatograph (GC) equipped with an electron capture detector (ECD), according to the US regulation EPA 8081. The ECD detector has been demonstrated to be a sensitive, cheaper, and easier-to operate alternative to mass spectrometry, showing an excellent selectivity toward organohalogenated compounds.

Determining Vicinal Diketones in Beer Using Valve-and-Loop Headspace Analysis

Instrument Type: GC

The Thermo Scientific Triplus 300 Headspace Autosampler has been coupled to the Thermo Scientific Trace 1310 Gas Chromatograph for the analysis of 2,3-pentanedione and 2,3 butanedione in beer according to the method issued by the European Brewery Convention in 1999. One critical point of this method is the need to incubate the samples at 35°C. In this study the Triplus 300 HS has been successfully operated at a constant temperature of 35°C without any cryogenic device.
