AN1112: Determination of Anions in Breast Milk
Instrument Type: ICMSBreast milk is the primary source of nutrition for newborns before they are able to eat and digest other foods, so there is a close correlation between breast milk quality and infant health. In addition to proteins and vitamins, the ionic elements such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and nitrate in breast milk also are important for infant health. However, consumption of breast milk that contains a high concentration of these ions could lead to health issues. IC is an efficient means to determine anions. An ICS-6000 can be used for this application.
AU205: Assay for Citrate and Phosphate in Pharmaceutical Formulations Using a High-Pressure Compact Ion Chromatography System
Instrument Type: ICUsing ion chromatography methods to determine citrate and phosphate in pharmaceutical formulations has been previously demonstrated, validated, and adopted by The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) in General Chapter< 345>. The monograph specified an L61 column. Here we demonstrate that a higher porosity, higher capacity, and smaller particle size L81 column with similar selectivity to L61 has much higher efficiencies, capacities, and sensitivities, and extended linear range with reduced run times.
Assay for Citrate and Phosphate in Pharmaceutical Formulations Using a Compact IC System
Instrument Type: ICCitric acid is a common ingredient found in pharmaceutical formulations. An assay for citrate and phosphate in pharmaceutical formulations using ion chromatography with a Thermo Scientific Dionex IonPac AS11 hydroxide-selective, anion-exchange column and suppressed conductivity detection was validated in Application Note 164. The method incorporates an electrolytic eluent generator to automatically produce an isocratic potassium hydroxide eluent. This record shows that the method can be run using the Thermo Scientific Dionex Integrion system.
AB137: Determination of Inorganic and Organic Acids in Apple and Orange Juice Samples Using Capillary IC
Instrument Type: ICDeterminations of organic acids in fruit juices are used by the beverage industry for flavor characterization, identification of spoilage, identification of adulteration by a less costly juice, and product labeling. In this study, inorganic anions and organic acids in diluted filtered apple and orange juice samples were determined on a Dionex IonSwift MAX-100 anion-exchange column using electrolytically generated hydroxide gradient from 0.1–65 mM KOH over 25 min at 15 μL/min.
CAN109: Primary Metabolite Analysis of Plant Material Using a Triple Quadrupole MS Coupled to a Monolith Anion-Exchange Column
Instrument Type: ICMSA platform using Dionex ion chromatography (IC) coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (MS) was developed to measure various metabolites in Brassica napus seeds. The IC tandem mass spectrometry (IC-MS/MS) technique provides a good tool to identify and quantify metabolites in a complex matrix.
