To provide an application for the analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons using the Thermo Scientific™ Hypersil GOLD VANQUISH™ 1.9 µm column and Thermo Scientific™ Vanquish H™ UHPLC system
The Thermo Scientific TRACE GC Ultra is applied for the analysis of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in wastewater by EPA method 610. The separation was performed on a Thermo Scientific TraceGOLD TG-5SilMS GC column, with MS detection.
This method describes an on-line SPE HPLC method with UV absorbance and fluorescence detections for rapid and sensitive determination of 20 PAHs in tap water. The determination is performed on a Thermo Scientific UltiMate 3000 Dual RSLC system combined with a Thermo Scientific Hypersil Green PAH analytical column. Reduced MDLs for UV and fluorescence detection, enabled by on-line SPE using the Thermo Scientific Dionex Acclaim PA2 column, provide a convenient method for determining these compounds in drinking and environmental waters using HPLC.
In this work the Thermo Scientific TraceGOLD TG-5MT metal GC column is used for the analysis of PAHs. The selectivity of the TG-5MT column was found to be very similar to the TraceGOLD TG-5MS column. The advantage of using the metal column is the higher maximum operating temperature which means a high temperature 'bake-out' can be performed at the end of the analysis to remove any highly retained contaminants, ensuring a clean system is maintained.
The Thermo Scientific HPLC system is applied for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The separation was performed on a Thermo Scientific Accucore RP-MS HPLC column, with UV detection at 254 nm.
