Determination of Humulones and Lupulones using Standard On-Line SPE

The BeerNHop solution using an on-line SPE-UHPLC method was applied for the analysis of the Thermo Scientific tetrahydroisohumulones standard. Automated analyte enrichment was done by solid phase extraction (SPE) on a Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD C8 column. Then, the separation was performed on a Hypersil GOLD 3 μm column with UV detection at 270 nm. With a total run time of 20 minutes, the method allows fast screening for remaining humulones (or lupulones). Hence, the isomerization progress during beer brewing can be observed fast and easy.
