A simple, rapid and sensitive procedure for the determination of prednisone by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was developed and evaluated. The drug was separated on an Accucore C18 HPLC column under reversed-phase, gradient conditions. Detection was performed on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer using positive polarity, heated electrospray ionisation (HESI) conditions operating in selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode.
