Simple and Rapid Analysis of Chloramphenicol in Milk by LC-MS/MS

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

Chloramphenicol (CAP) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with historical veterinary uses in all major food-producing animals. It has serious side effects on humans that may cause aplastic anemia, and suspected carcinogen effect. Though banned for use in all food-producing animals by the EU, USA and Canada, residues of CAP at unacceptable levels continue to be found in food imports. We describe a simple sample preparation procedure followed by a high-speed LC separation and detection by a triple quadrupole MS operated in SRM mode and validation per European Commission Decision 2002/657/EC.

AN454: Analysis of Haloacetic Acids in Drinking Water by IC-MS/MS

Instrument Type: ICMS

Haloacetic acids (HAA) are disinfection byproducts when water is chlorinated to remove microbial content. The chlorine reacts with naturally occurring organic and inorganic matter in the water, such as decaying vegetation, to produce by-products that include HAAs. Five of the nine HAA species are currently regulated by the EPA as there might be an increased risk of cancer associated with long-term consumption of water containing levels of HAAs that exceed 0.6 mg/L. We describe an IC-MSMS method that provides separation of all nine HAAs addressed in the EPA methods (552.1, 552.2, and 552.3).

Analysis of Basic and Acidic Pharmaceutical Products in Drinking Water Using Online Sample Preparation and LC-MS/MS

Instrument Type: LCMSMS

We developed a robust analytical method for the analysis of 29 acidic and basic pharmaceutical residues in drinking water using online sample preparation. At the same time, we hope to reduce time spent on sample preparation and reduce opportunities for human error.
