AN44407: Determination of Chromium Species using Ion Chromatography Coupled to Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry
Description
In trace amounts, trivalent chromium (Cr (III)) is considered an essential nutrient, while hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) is toxic. Because of the varying toxicity of different chromium oxidation states, simply knowing the total chromium concentration in a solution is not sufficient to determine its true toxicity and therefore speciation analysis is required. In this application note, the Dionex Aquion Ion Chromatography system was coupled with the iCAP RQ ICP-MS system to determine the concentration of Cr (III) and Cr (VI) in drinking water.Market: | Environmental |
